Roanoke Firefighter Memorial

Wednesday, March 11, 2009
This is the City of Roanoke Firefighter Memorial. It is located at the Virginia Transportation Museum. It's amazing how many little things there are like this in a city.

John Birks "Dizzy" Gillespie

"Dizzy" Gillespie was one of the greatest jazz trumpet players. This statue is located in his hometown of Cheraw, South Carolina. I have passed this for years and never had (or made) time to stop. I finally made time this last trip to SC.

Florence Veterans Park

Monday, March 9, 2009
Sunset at the Florence Veterans Park. This park was built in 2008 behind the civic center. It is one of the many things that have been built since I left Florence several years ago. It is amazing how much things change after you move.

Civil War Reenactment

Sunday, March 8, 2009

While visiting my parents in SC, my dad and I went to the civil war reenactment at The Columns, just outside of Florence. I had never been to one of these before. It was very interesting to see (and hear). It was very loud there needless to say.
