I bought a remote for my camera the other day so I could take some family portraits without having to use the timer. We set up everything in the dining room and spent a few minutes trading the baby around. In addition to the three of us together, Lori took a few of me and Rachel, and I took a few of them together. Here's a couple we took. We're using one I took in our Christmas card so I won't be posting that one right now.
I learned a lot from this little shoot we did. It was the first one I had done since I got a shoot-through umbrella and stand for my flash. I forgot to add in a hair light so my hair kind of blends in with the background. I don't have another flash, so I have to use a shop light as a hair light. I'm going to be getting some more lighting stuff soon so I will be able to do these the correct way. Everything considered, I'm pretty happy with results.

One from the archives. This was shot outside the salvage shop in downtown Roanoke this past summer. Someone at some time spent a lot of time painting all of the detail on this wagon.

My daughter's feet with my wife's and my wedding rings. We should have done this shot when she was first born. She was a little active and this was a hard shot to get. This was the best one of that set. I was hoping to get some of her laying down, but that was not going to happen. She does great as long as someone is holding her.

My brother and his girlfriend came in to visit today. It's the first time they've been up since Rachel was born. So we took a little time and shot a few photos with him in his firefighter gear.

One from the archives. This was shot on the Scott Kelby Photowalk in Norfolk back this past summer. I finally got my book (Digital Photography Volume 3) this week for having the winning image. The event ended up being a lot bigger than they were thinking so it took a while for them to get all of the books together. I've looked over it and it seems to be pretty good.
