Took this a few months ago. I didn't notice at first, but someone told me it looks like a phoenix rising from the ashes. I think I agree.

I spent last Saturday in Harrisonburg, Virginia for All-state band auditions. I had a while to wait while the kids auditioned so I walked around downtown a little. Seems to be a neat little town.

A few weeks ago, I made a bracket for my new softboxes that I got from Adorama. I was posting a picture on my flickr stream of the bracket and wanted to include some samples of stuff that I shot with it. I haven't really shot much with them yet, so I grabbed the first available subject. Just happened to be Zoe. We went outside and shot a few. This is one.

I like the look that underexposed ambient light gives. It's not very often I can do this since I don't have any large strobes with enough juice to overpower the sun. The clouds were just right though.
